Optometrists with an interest in contact lens fitting are invited to express their interest in becoming a mentor or mentee in the 2026 Contact Lens Mentorship Program.
Endorsed by the Cornea and Contact Lens Society (CCLSA), and in partnership with Johnson and Johnson Vision, the brand-agnostic peer-to-peer program aims to help optometrists gain the confidence they need to navigate their professional journeys.
The Contact Lens Mentorship Program is based on a 1-to-1 model of knowledge sharing, support and advice, and Ellen Zhang, said the mentor she worked with during the 2025 program had a wealth of knowledge and experience.
“My mentor was amazing in helping me build the skills that I wanted to work on. I learnt heaps through the workshops and have applied my learnings to improve my contact lens fitting as well as business and future goals to work on,” she said.

Dr Margaret Lam, who is a program mentor, said that as well as sharing her knowledge, participation provided an opportunity to audit her own skills “in order to continue self-improvement and self-reflection”.
“It was a great platform to share my knowledge and give back to the optometry community, but also an enriching experience too, sharing time with the new emerging optometrists who will be the contact lens leaders of the future,” she said.
