EssilorLuxottica has held a global gathering of eye care professionals (ECPs) – including representatives from Australia and New Zealand – to explore how vision care is being transformed.

More than 1,200 ECPs attended the Switch vision innovation summit, a three-day held in Monaco earlier this month, to discuss rapid technological acceleration and evolving patient expectations.

The Switch summit highlighted the powerful shifts reshaping the industry:

  • The eye is becoming a window to overall health,
  • Glasses are becoming an intelligent interface to life, and
  • Care systems need a stronger frontline, closer to people.

Plenary sessions, keynotes, and learning sessions emphasised a fundamental shift: a new understanding of the eye not only as a means to see, but as a powerful window into overall health – and a direct bridge to the brain. Delegates heard that advances in imaging and artificial intelligence (AI) are enabling earlier detection of systemic and neurological conditions, often before symptoms appear.

The Monaco event also featured the ‘Switch Your Store’ experience – an immersive journey into the future of eyewear featuring wearables, advanced vision care and smart lenses, and hearing solutions as well as advanced diagnostics and AI-powered insights. By offering a seamless view of innovation across the entire ecosystem, ‘Switch Your Store’ demonstrated how optical store of the future will be able to elevate both patient outcomes and ECPs’ business performance.

Switch also featured EssilorLuxottica’s major lifestyle and luxury brands and visitors had the chance to experience the future of light therapy first-hand with demonstration sessions Espansione’s patented photobiomodulation technology.
