Research has revealed the power of Melbourne Rapid Fields (MRF) in monitoring retinal disease, whether at home or in the clinic.
Fifty-four age-related macular degeneration cases were followed for a year, with weekly MRF macular field assessments at home and routine clinical reviews. Here’s what was discovered:
- No difference in acuity between in-clinic and at-home measurements,
- Home monitoring has a learning curve for macula thresholds, and
- MRF returned 2.5 dB higher retinal sensitivity than Maia microperimetry.
Patient feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with ease of use rated at 4.6 out of five and comfort at 4.7 out of five. This study heralds a new era in personalised retinal disease monitoring with MRF – precise, patient-preferred, and ready to redefine care standards.
