Themed ‘Future Focussed’, this year the online audience from right across the Asia Pacific region will be addressed by Dr Giovanni E Olivares, John Meyler, Jeff Tang, and Australia’s Dr Margaret Lam.

The 2025 webinar content will educate practitioners on:

  • Recent innovations in toric and multifocal contact lens design to correct for astigmatism and presbyopia,
  • How to apply modern, patient-centric, multifocal contact lens fitting protocols to meet the unmet needs of the modern-day presbyopic contact lens wearer, and
  • How to leverage fitting tips and tools to achieve successful visual outcomes with soft toric and multifocal contact lens patients.

Optometry Australia has accredited the webinar for 1.5 hours of continued professional development, or two hours for those who complete the assessment.

Dr Giovanni E Olivares will traces the development of astigmatism correction over the years, emphasising technology improvements and improved patient outcomes as a result. She will focus in on the impact of innovations on patient satisfaction and vision.

Reimagining Astigmatism: A Journey to Better Patient Outcomes

John Meyler will help practitioners enhance visual experiences for astigmatic patients by addressing various challenges associated with toric lens fitting for these patients, and highlighting the complexities that practitioners face. His segment will touch on key considerations to optimise satisfaction with toric lenses, such as unmasking and selecting the optimal toric lens design.

Turning Back the Clock for Presbyopes

Jeff Tang will describe innovative strategies for correcting presbyopia, drawing insights from various case studies that illustrate effective interventions. Additionally, he will touch on common beliefs surrounding presbyopia correction and methods to enhance the management of presbyopia.

Mastering the Patient Conversation

In this presentation, Dr Margaret Lam will delve into advanced communication strategies essential for successful multifocal contact lens fitting. Through this segment, practitioners can be empowered to navigate challenging conversations with confidence.

Panel Discussion

Concluding the webinar, the full panel will explore the intricate challenges associated with multifocal contact lens fitting. Their discussion will cover various fitting cases and include collaborative learning with principles to maximise fitting success.
