Professor Nathan Efron AC, an optometrist and academic, has lived with Type 2 diabetes and been a moderately high myope all his life.
In 2009 he suffered a retinal detachment that took him on a roller coaster ride of retinopexy, cryopexy, vitrectomy, and intraocular lens surgery.
