Specsavers Northam in Western Australia (WA) has become the 100th Specsavers store to launch advanced dry eye treatment, offering low level laser therapy (LLLT) and intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments.
The advanced dry eye offering has rapidly expanded from a pilot program in just seven stores to a fully evolved service available in 100 stores, in just 100 days.
it’s so rewarding to be able to offer a treatment which will help support ocular health as well as improve their quality of life
Practitioners involved in the rollout have commented on the professional satisfaction derived from being trained and equipped to offer treatments that quickly enhance quality of life.
James Hwang from Specsavers Armadale in WA observed that “after the introduction of IPL and LLLT, we were able to significantly improve the quality of life for those patients who were suffering from dry eye disease every day”.
Similarly, Valija Hani from Specsavers Warnbro in WA said having treated patients with dry eyes “for a long time with limited effective and affordable options”, advanced dry eye treatments now being offered in her store are enabling her to “provide long-lasting relief”.
“It has made a difference in patients’ quality of life, and I feel so appreciated,” Ms Hani said.
In New South Wales, Madeline Crow from Specsavers Erina said the opportunity to offer patients LLLT “has been fantastic”.
“I’ve loved seeing the difference it makes for patients with dry eye; it’s so rewarding to be able to offer a treatment which will help support ocular health as well as improve their quality of life.”
With 100 stores now offering advanced dry eye treatment, Specsavers said it is working as quickly as possible to roll the technology out to “a long list” of stores that have expressed interest.
