Optometry Australia’s interactive CPD series is heading to Darwin for the first time.
Taking place 18–19 April 2026, Optometry Queensland and Northern Territory (OQNT) will bring together local and interstate experts for a highly interactive program focused on clinical decision-making, therapeutics and the management of complex presentations.
The Darwin Interactive program is structured around small-group, case-based sessions that mirror everyday clinical scenarios
A Program For Real Practice
The Darwin Interactive program is structured around small-group, case-based sessions that mirror everyday clinical scenarios and place a strong focus on immediate application in practice.
Key sessions include:
- Glaucoma in practice: case-based diagnosis and management – real-world scenarios exploring how to identify, interpret and manage glaucoma and ocular hypertension, including prescribing considerations and medication side effects.
- Macular oedema: to inject or not to inject – differentiating causes of increased macular thickness on optical coherence tomography (OCT) and identifying conditions that may mimic oedema, with practical guidance on management pathways.
- Optometry self-defence: medico-legal risk in practice – lessons from real cases covering patient complaints, Medicare investigations and risk reduction strategies to help clinicians stay compliant and protect their reputation.
- Pills in practice: oral therapeutics in ocular disease – case-based discussion on when and how to prescribe oral medications, grounded in quality use of medicines principles.
- Opening eyes and closing the gap – insights into delivering eye care in remote NT communities, including collaborative care models and improving access for underserved populations.
Additional sessions include sponsored content, cultural responsiveness and networking opportunities across the 1.5-day program.
New: Practice Staff Masterclass
Running alongside the main program, the Darwin Interactive Masterclass introduces a dedicated stream for optical dispensers and practice staff, with access to trade and exposure to the latest industry trends.
