Organisers of the 21st China International Optics Fair (CIOF) have declared the trade fair held in Beijing at the end of September as a success, despite the global economic downturn.
Coming right on the heals of the Beijing Olympics, organisers claim CIOF 2008 reached a record in the size of the exhibition area (46,000 square metres) and maintained its level of exhibitors.
Madam XU Yunyuan, Chairperson of the China Optometric & Optical Association (COOA) and co-sponsors of the fair, said: “Although we are threatened by the global economic recession, the 21st CIOF has remained steady, attracting 730 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions including first-time participants from Australia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Ukraine.
“The exhibition has provided an all-in-one trading platform for the domestic and international exhibitors buyers in the optical industry to achieve business goals, to share experiences and to update their market intelligence. The buyers arehappy to see the exhibition halls and rooms occupied with the top branded eyewear, new and exquisite designs, advanced technology and machinery in optometric and optical manufacturing.
In addition, the educational seminar, “Design of international spectacle brands and fashion trends has received positive feedback.”
Madam Xu points out that CIOF is not just a look at the latest in the global optical market, but also a window into China’s burgeoning optical industry.
The next events in China are the 9th Shanghai International Optics Fair (SIOF 2009) from 25 to 27 February and the 22nd CIOF in Beijing from 16 to 18 September 2009.
