In spite of a heavy downfall the previous night, competitors were relieved the rain held off the next day, for last November’s Annual Moss Vale Open Golf Day. Moss Vale Golf Course in the Southern Highlands of NSW is a golfer’s paradise. Avenues of pines, elms and gums flank the winding layout of this championship par 71 course. It’s both scenic and somewhat challenging. Thanks to the generosity of its sponsors and players more than AUD$6,000 was raised for Optometry Giving Sight from the event.
Rolf Anders took out the Cup, winning first place; Barry McNamara came in second; and in third place was Brad Weatherstone, with 41, 38 and 37 points respectively in the AGU Handicaps. Vicki Robertson’s 25 points earned her first place in the LGU Handicap.
Bob Lees, new chairman of Optometry Giving Sight, presented a stirring speech to guests during the evening’s dinner, congratulating winners, thanking event organisers Tim McKinnon and Andrew Mrakovic, and praising sponsors’ support and dedication towards the cause.
The day’s top performers were awarded with prizes generously donated by many of the event’s sponsors, including:
