As primary eye care providers with the choice of ocular therapeutic endorsement it is vital for us as optometrists to be involved in our patients’ management plan

Presenters include ophthalmologists, doctors, optometrists and professionals from PersonalEYES, The University of New South Wales and the Optometry Association of Australia. Clinical optometrist and manager Amira Howari commented “As primary eye care providers with the choice of ocular therapeutic endorsement it is vital for us as optometrists to be involved in our patients’ management plan. As health professionals we need to build a strong network so that we can provide the best level care for our patients and the wider community. When asked what advice would she give to her fellow optometrists Amira suggested “Get to know your local health professionals, be involved with the optometry association and support your local community during the various eye health awareness weeks throughout the year. The best form of satisfaction is when you give back to the community and when you know you have made a positive impact on someone’s life.”
