Eye care professionals that visit SILMO this year will be able to attend three symposium sessions on the themes of children’s vision, reading and myopia.
Silmo Academy, which will be hosted again by Mondial de l’Optique (World Optical Fair), is scheduled for 29-30 September. Additionally, a poster exhibition will take place throughout Silmo from 29 September to 2 October. Postings will be welcomed from anyone who wishes to share their work on any aspect
of vision or optics.
Under the presidency of Guy Charlot, Silmo Academy comprises a scientific committee, responsible for validating the content of symposia and guaranteeing the scientific scope of the sessions. The committee is headed by Professor Yves Pouliquen, a member of the Académie Française, supported by Bernard Maitenaz, inventor of the Varilux lens, Professor Jean-Claude Hache, ophthalmologist in Lille and director of the scientific symposium, Professor Christian Corbe, senior health inspector, Mrs Elaine Grisdale from the Association of British Dispensing Opticians together with Jean Paul Roosen, lecturer and Gilles Bourdeau, optician in Lyon.
The seminars will include topics such as how children’s vision develops; correcting the vision of highly myopic children by means of contact lenses; dyslexia and reading, ARMD and reading, and refractive surgery for highly myopic patients.
