New York Fashion Week has been and gone but the impression left by Porsche Design’s Sidewall and P’8478 models with graduated tint lenses, lives on.
Inspired by the glacier goggles of former mountain climber icons, Sidewall is both sporty and elegant with side inserts made from glass that both look good and provide great extra protection from the wind and sunlight at the sides. Unfortunately for fashion conscious lovers of the snow, this model was produced in a limited edition quantity of just 250 worldwide.
The P’8478 is the very first spectacle design to be released by Porsche Design and it remains one of the brand’s most successful. Unchanged since 1978, the lens replacement mechanism on this model was, and still is, revolutionary. It not only makes adaptation to different visual requirements possible, but also to different outfits. That way, the spectacles stand not only for fashionable style-consciousness, but also well thought out functionality. Pictured here is the latest release P’8478, with graduated tint lenses in raspberry.
