A concert will be held in the Blue Mountains on 16 November to support glaucoma awareness; especially in families where someone has already been diagnosed with the disease.
Direct relatives of glaucoma sufferers have up to 10 times higher risk of having glaucoma than the general population. With a 1 in 4 lifetime chance of having glaucoma all direct relatives should have a full eye examination and then undergo two-yearly monitoring unless their eye health professional suggests otherwise.
Soprano Shu-Cheen Yu and dance group the Tap Pack will perform for guests at the Save Sight 2014 Charity Concert, which will be staged at the Fairmont Resort in Leura.
Shu-Cheen Yu began her career in Chinese traditional opera and became one of China’s best folk singers. Her career in Australia has been equally impressive, performing with Opera Australia, and most State opera companies and orchestras. She is currently appearing in “The King and I” (Best Musical, Helpmann Awards). Shu-Cheen Yu is the recipient of many awards including winner of the Australian Regional Finals of the Metropolitan Opera, New York; and the Shell Royal Opera House Covent Garden Scholarship.
Inspired by the “Rat Pack”, the Tap Pack is a new, highly entertaining act that combines old classics with the fresh twist of tap dancing. This high energy performance group is comprised of four of Australia’s finest young artists, men with credits in over 20 musical theatre productions and motion picture block-busters.
The Save Sight 2014 Charity Concert will be held at the Fairmont Resort, Leura on Sunday 16 November from 11:30am. Tickets for the concert are $50pp or $45 for pensioners and children under 16. Morning tea ($15pp) and a luncheon buffet ($40pp) can be pre-purchased.
