Ophthalmologist Dr.Sue Ormonde will fly across the Tasman to get the ball rolling with her keynote address on the refractive treatment of keratoconus. She will return to encourage discussion on cutting-edge treatments in anterior segment surgery. Additionally, Dr. Ormonde will deliver the concluding lecture of the conference, at which she will throw new light on cataract surgery.
Roman Serebrianik, the ACO’s own Head of Primary and Specialist Care Services, will facilitate a highly interactive session on the topic of contact lenses: “Are there solutions for all contact lenses or for all contact lens problems?” During this session Assoc. Prof. Eric Papas and Russell Lowe will encourage attendees to learn and contribute to the science, art and craft of contact lens management.
The diverse range of topics presented on Saturday 24 November will also include new modes of drug delivery, nanomedicine, RGP lens fitting and neuro-ophthalmology.

Sunday morning will provide delegates with the opportunity to become absorbed by the history of ophthalmic medicine. Across the day sessions will focus on AMD, skin conditions and corneal surgery.
The ACO National Conference has something for everyone, including a cocktail party on Saturday afternoon to launch Professor Barry Cole’s book History of Australian Optometry.
