Professor Efron will deliver a medal address and receive the medal at Optometry Australia’s Southern Regional Conference, which runs from 5–6 March 2016 at Albert Park in Melbourne.
Professor Efron is the ninth recipient of the H. Barry Collin Research Medal, which was established in 1977 in honour of the eponymous optometric research pioneer.
Earlier this year Professor Efron was awarded Companion in the General Division of the Order of Australia and the Kenneth W. Bell Medal.
He received the Companion in the General Division of the Order of Australia for eminent service to medicine in the field of clinical optometry, particularly to vision correction and corneal physiology, as an academic, researcher and author, to the treatment of juvenile diabetes, and through executive roles with national and international professional organisations.
Professor Efron was awarded the Kenneth W. Bell Medal by the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia for extensive commitment and research achievements in the field of contact lenses and the anterior segment.
