The KAMRA® inlay is just 3.8 mm in diameter with a 1.6 mm central opening. It is smaller and thinner than a contact lens and is placed securely in the cornea.
The KAMRA inlay extends depth of focus by blocking unfocused peripheral light rays, isolating focused central and paracentral rays through its central aperture. This enables light to move directly from the front of the eye to the back of the eye, providing a continuous range of vision – from near to far – without compromising vision or creating blur. The centre aperture is surrounded by 8,400 perforations that allow oxygen and nutrients to flow freely and naturally through the eye.
The KAMRA inlay is implanted into a femtosecond laser created pocket in the non-dominant eye, improving near vision by extending the depth of focus. One of the greatest benefits of the inlay is that it remains effective over time, even as presbyopia progresses.
The KAMRA inlay is an ideal solution for active presbyopes who want to enjoy freedom from the constant frustrations of reading glasses. It is approved in the U.S., has CE Mark, and is commercially available in more than 50 countries worldwide.
