It’s only a week to go until the next Young Optometrists CPD event to be held on Wed 3 August at the Vibe Hotel in Sydney featuring special guest speakers: Jim Kokkinakis, Whitney Lam and Theresa Bui – all who share a passion for contact lens prescribing and management.
This event is worth 4.5 CPD points and intended for young optometrists (within 10 years of graduation). It will include contact lens experts and a buffet dinner.
Attendees will gain fresh knowledge and practical tips about contact lens fitting, drawing from the clinical experience of the speakers:
Jim Kokkinakis: Contact lens Compliance
To wrap up the evening, Jim Kokkinakis will impress how patient compliance and effective communication are the mainstays required to reduce contact lens related adverse events. Improving skills in this area will be for benefit of our patients, the image of optometry, and our relationship with ophthalmology.
Whitney Lam: Contact lenses for Multifocal wearers 101
The aging population translates to an unprecedented opportunity for practising optometrists to proactively recommend and fit multifocal soft contact lenses. But there are also barriers. Next, Whitney Lam will explain the ins and outs of multifocal contact lenses with reference to specific fitting tips using a case-based approach.
Theresa Bui: Contact lenses Back to Basics
With the wealth of contact lens options now available on the market, understanding which lens to prescribe and why can be difficult. Best practice contact lens management requires careful and weighted consideration of all of the options in the context of the patient’s expectations and demands. The evening’s first talk will address specific contact lens options available to patients and empower the listener with practical advice.
