Hoya Australia has celebrated the company’s 75th anniversary and announced plans for a new state of the art lens laboratory in Sydney.
Craig Chick, Managing Director of Hoya Australia, addressed the audience advising that Hoya Australia had sold its existing facility in Alexandria to Sydney City Council, which had plans to build a road through the site.
“We have been in this location since 1994 and this sale will enable us to re-invest millions of dollars back into the local industry with a state of the art laboratory,” said Mr. Chick. “This will be the most advanced lab in the Asia Pacific with brand new high capacity coating equipment as well as new freeform generators. This will increase our capacity to provide you with the speed and quality products you’ve come to expect from Hoya.”
Ulli Hentschel Hoya Australia’s Training & Development Manager took the audience on a journey through the history of the company. He highlighted important innovations over the last 75 years since the company was founded in the small Japanese town of Hoya, spoke about the company’s global expansion and the recent re-focusing of the business to ‘information technology’ and ‘life care’.
Hoya has been in Australia for 42 years.
