Oculo and Sydney-based online medical typing service Global Transcription Services (GTS) will link their software services in an agreement “designed to reduce practice costs and enhance operational efficiency”.
Ophthalmologists and other medical specialists can use any mobile device or tablet for dictation, review and editing of drafts, and to electronically sign correspondence.
The integration will mean transcribed correspondence can be seamlessly transmitted through Oculo’s secure cloud-based clinical communication platform to referring optometrists and general practitioners.
GTS CEO Mark Silbermann said, “Outsourcing and secure cloud-based technology increase busy practices’ efficiency and flexibility… GTS enables ophthalmologists to outsource the transcription of dictation and then to manage correspondence portably.”
Dr Kate Taylor, CEO of Oculo said, “We at Oculo believe that better communication leads to better care. We are delighted to continue to develop ways to make better communication between eye care professionals easier, quicker and more secure.”
Oculo, an internet-based clinical communications platform for eye care professionals, is now used by over 300 ophthalmologists and 800 optometrists across Australia.
