Professor Emeritus Nathan Efron’s third edition of the respected Contact Lens Practice text book, is now available.
Speaking of the publication Professor Efron said, “I’m especially proud that the third edition, Contact Lens Practice, has just been published after two years’ hard work by a large team of authors, illustrators and publishing professionals. This edition is not just a cosmetic make-over. There have been extensive revisions, many of which have been written by new authors.
“Highlights include a new chapter on myopia control – an area of considerable interest at present in view of the current myopia epidemic (especially in Asia) and the potential for fitting contact lenses that can arrest myopia progression to a certain degree. A new chapter on orthokeratology will also be of interest to many practitioners. The chapter on daily disposable lenses has also been updated and expanded, particularly important given this modality now represents nearly one third of contact lenses prescribed world-wide.”
Contact Lens Practice third edition (2017, Elsevier), covers the field of contact lenses including basic anterior eye anatomy, history, instrumentation, fitting, aftercare and conventional rigid and soft and specialty fitting. It complements Professor Efron’s other major title, Contact Lens Complications third edition (2012, Elsevier), which concentrates on the causes and cures of anterior eye complications of contact lens wear.
