Dedicated Spectacle Insurance Policy

Independent optometrists can now access a new ‘value add’ offering in the form of a dedicated spectacle insurance policy for customers. The policy is expected to help attract and retain customers without the need for offering product discounts.

Clarity 20/20 provides an eyewear insurance policy accessed via a web-based CRM software system built in-house for the optometry industry.

Clarity started in New Zealand in 2010 as a pilot programme before being launched in Australia in late 2016. Patients receive a dedicated eyewear insurance policy, cover for either 12 or 24 months that includes an unlimited number of repairs and one full replacement, accidental damage, vandalism, theft, frame repair, and travel cover for up to 60 days on any one trip. Patients must return to the practice to make a claim if something happens to their spectacles.

David Cormack, Business Development Executive at Clarity 2020 said the insurance policy encouraged customers to spend more on eyewear as it provided peace of mind, especially when purchasing spectacles for children who are typically more likely to damage them.

“By integrating Clarity into your business, there will be a reduction in the length of time between visits, increased sales, higher value sales, reduced discounts and patient referrals. Over time these improvements create an improved financial platform within the practice that can drive the growth of the business,” said Mr. Cormack.
