Eye Care Professionals Urged to Support Macular Degeneration Awareness

Macular Disease Foundation Australia has asked all eye care professionals to support Macular Degeneration Awareness Week, its annual campaign which runs from 21 –27 May this year.

This year’s theme is ‘Face the Facts about Macular Degeneration’.

The campaign will drive consumers in the at risk 50 plus group into optometry practices by highlighting the importance of prevention and early detection through an eye test and macula check.

Macular Disease Foundation Australia will distribute Macular Degeneration Awareness Week kits, including digital assets, in early April enabling optometrists and ophthalmologists to plan promotional activities and order free resources in the lead up to the week.

This year’s theme is ‘Face the Facts about Macular Degeneration’

The kits have been developed to enable optometrists to generate local media coverage using a supplied media release template; order the Foundation’s free materials and resources for distribution to patients; and promote the week on their website and through social media using the digital assets available from the Foundation.
