Shamir’s safety division, Shamir OHS has merged its operations with Shamir Australia at the company’s Brisbane lab. All Shamir OHS prescription safety eyewear is now manufactured in Australia.
Shamir OHS caters for all categories of safety eyewear certified to Australian and NZ SAI Global Standards, including; prescription safety eyewear in Eyres flat and wrapped frames fitted with Shamir lenses; Eyres Plano safety eyewear with bifocal readers in clear, tinted and polarised lenses, and Eyres Plano safety eyewear in clear, tinted, photochromic and polarised lenses.

Shamir developed its presence in the safety eyewear market after purchasing Eyres Optical in 2015. Eyres Optical had a strong presence in the safety field, selling mainly plano safety eyewear from its Perth location. Shamir Optical Lab in Brisbane is certified to manufacture prescription safety eyewear by SAI Global.
Shamir Australia will use Attitude 111 lenses in its wrap frames and Spectrum progressive lenses in fiat frames. MEI robotic edging equipment will be used to glaze the flat and wrapped safety frames. This equipment ensures a perfect bevel positioning and the firm fitting required in safety eyewear.
