The Topcon Specular microscope, model SP-1P, introduces a fully automatic capture procedure, together with a modern, ergonomic design that simplifies its use and increases its efficiency.
By simply tapping on the centre of the patient’s pupil displayed on the monitor, the SP-1P automatically centres, focuses and acquires the endothelial cell image. The entire operation takes a few seconds and it is fast and smooth, requiring minimum training.
The SP-1P takes three images – central, nasal, and temporal – then the panorama function automatically combines them to create a large area for observation and analysis of endothelial cells. This enables the practitioner to study the size, shape, and density of the endothelial cells at the back of the cornea, identify and characterise any abnormalities that may indicate corneal conditions such as trauma, dystrophies, and / or degenerative processes, and follow the condition and health of the endothelial cells.
