European Eyewear Restructures to Focus on Low Vision

European Eyewear is being restructured and will focus on supplying low vision technology to the Australian market going forward.

After nearly 50 years of operating European Eyewear, company founders Graham and Bev Sheil have chosen to retire from working life. As a result, Brett and Leanne Sheil will take control of the business, and have decided to restructure operations to phase out their eyewear division and focus solely on magnifier and VTP offerings. The handover of the business and subsequent changes will begin immediately and is planned to be completed by September 2020.

Graham and Bev Sheil founded European Eyewear in 1972, and established a strong ongoing relationship with Eschenbach Optik of Germany which continues to this day. Through this relationship, European Eyewear has become Australia’s biggest supplier of quality magnifiers, as well as a major supplier of eyewear. While they are sad to be stepping back, Graham and Bev said they are proud of what the business has achieved and confident that Brett and Leanne will continue to drive it forward into the future.

European Eyewear made the decision to phase out eyewear and focus on magnifiers and other VTP products to allow the business to provide higher levels of support to its customers. In a statement Brett and Leanne said divesting the eyewear division would allow them to be more agile in meeting the needs of their customers, and adapting to the changing needs of today’s world.

As part of the restructure, European Eyewear is offering its existing eyewear range at heavily discounted prices.
