The intraoperative Lumera 700 allows high-definition optical coherence tomography (OCT) images to appear directly in the eyepiece, adding a real-time third dimension to visualisation capabilities. Surgeons are provided unprecedented views below the surface of the surgical field, enabling them to see more – even transparent structures – in the anterior and posterior segment of the eye.
Real-time OCT feedback during surgery can improve the understanding of anatomy and impact surgical decision making. It helps the surgeon to concentrate more on the procedure as the necessary structural information known from preoperative OCTs is available throughout. Additionally, continuous OCT scanning achieves better patient outcomes because progress and results can be monitored and verified during the procedure.
The intraoperative OCT is also available with the first digital ophthalmic microscope, the Artevo 800. The high definition OCT images appear on the 3D and 4K Artevo monitor, providing 39% more OCT information.
