Proper Goods has announced it is managing the marketing strategies for Swiss luxury brand Akoni and French luxury house Balmain in the Australia and New Zealand markets. The multi-brand eyewear distributor will welcome the brands to its portfolio with the launch of a Fall-Winter 2021 collection in November.
“We’re proud to partner with two of the world’s most in-demand luxury brands, cementing our position as the premier independent eyewear portfolio in Australia and New Zealand,” said Ben Walters, Proper Goods founder and CEO.

“The global consumer is more informed than ever and as a result we’re seeing the market steer away from generic licensed products in favour of higher-spec, specialty brands, such as Akoni and Balmain.”
With a dedication to time-honoured craftsmanship and technique, Akoni works with some of Japan’s finest artisans to create frames with fine detail. Meanwhile, the new Balmain Eyewear collection pays homage to the DNA of the brands history with strong and audacious styles reflecting a confident spirit. Gold touches recall Pierre Balmain’s signature golden medallions and gilded buttons, while the intricate details and craftsmanship echo the brands famed ateliers.
Together, the brands join Proper Goods’ established portfolio of luxury eyewear including Ahlem, Garrett Leight California Optical, L.G.R, Moscot, Mr. Leight, and Mykita.
The Fall-Winter 2021 collection will be available in select fashion stores and premium optical retailers during November.
