With a commitment to market-leading innovation and growth in the Asia Pacific region (APAC), Alcon has appointed Chintan Desai, Vice President, Surgical for Asia Pacific, and Stephanie Waugh, Vice President, Vision Care for Asia Pacific, to lead the company’s Surgical and Vision Care franchises in the region.
The new executives will be responsible for building on Alcon’s product pipeline, year-to-date performance, strengthening innovation and commercial execution, and driving Surgical and Vision Care sales growth.

With extensive healthcare and medical device industry experience in Asia Pacific and the United States, Mr Desai will solidify Alcon’s industry-led surgical eye care market leadership. His competency in sales, services, finance, supply chain and project management will support this role.
Mr Desai joins Alcon following 23 years at GE Healthcare, where he was most recently Chief Executive Officer for Southeast Asia.

Having joined Alcon in 2018, Ms Waugh has played a pivotal role in new production innovation and portfolio strategy for Alcon’s leading brands, and will continue to lead the expansion of the company’s contact lens and ocular health portfolio in the region.
Ms Waugh was previously with Novartis Pharmaceuticals, most recently as Global Head, External Eye Disease.
“My career at Alcon has been an exhilarating journey, taking me from Texas to around the world and now to Singapore. It is a great pleasure to be given the opportunity to lead in such a dynamic and vibrant region,” said Ms Waugh.
“I will be working closely with our team, customers and partners to launch and grow our robust pipeline of innovative products in contact lenses, contact lens care, dry eyes and allergy drops, and to raise the bar for the vision care industry.”

Mr Desai succeeds Sunil Vasant, who has been appointed Vice President, Commercial Operations and Strategy, Alcon International. Ms Waugh succeeds Gustavo Zac, now appointed Vice President, U.S. Vision Care Marketing.
