O-Show takes place in Sydney this month from 27–28 May. Delivering the latest in optical industry technology and showcasing up-to-the-minute eyewear, this year’s event at the Hordern Pavilion will be the biggest O-Show ever.
“After a dearth of trade shows, O-Show22 has attracted a record number of exhibitors,” said Amanda Trotman, acting CEO of ODMA. “The focus will be on new equipment and releases of new optical frames and sunglasses with confirmed exhibitors listed A to Z on the website www.o-show.com.au/visitors/ exhibitors; everyone from Aaron’s Eyewear, BOC, Bolle Safety, and Designs for Vision, Frames Etcetera, Modstyle, and Noo through to Safilo, VS Eyewear and Zeiss. To encourage your registration and attendance, exhibitors have been allocated a stock of ‘Golden Tickets’, each one with a chance to win a Gold Coast getaway.”
Recently released products on show include Optique Line’s auraflex+ range, the quirky new frame brand Albert I’m Stein from Frames Etcetera and, from Zeiss, the Clarus 700 ultra-widefield retinal camera and next generation OCT, Cirrus 6000.
Free 30-minute talks on the Spotlight Stage each day will provide insights on topics such as choosing a frame for your clients’ face type, easy ways to increase profits and building client rapport. Masterclasses, run in collaboration with Optometry NSW/ACT, will cover topics including tips for performing visual fields, ocular emergencies and triaging, and ocular imaging. Speakers include Suki Jaiswal who graduated from the Bachelor of Optometry/ Vision Science course with Honours in 2013 and achieved a Masters in Optometry in 2020; Judy Nam who graduated with a Bachelor of Vision Science and Master of Clinical Optometry from the University of New South Wales and is a research optometrist at the Centre for Eye Health; and Sue Kweon, an optometrist and PhD scholar based at the School of Optometry & Vision Science (SOVS), UNSW.
Crowd favourite, Steve Daras, will run daily sessions on Quality dispensing – accurate measurements for optical dispensers and Advanced dispensing – what is glare and how do you reduce it? O-Show22 will also offer a daily 90-minute workshop session on topics from ODMA’s very popular program, Start Your Own Independent Practice. This session is cosponsored by the Young Optometrists (YO) and will be co-presented by Kathy Allen of Dewings Accountants, and Emma Gillies of Purple Key Consulting (nominal fees apply to Masterclasses and Workshops). A happy hour networking event will be held on the trade floor on the Friday evening from 5pm.
O-Show22 coincides with the opening of Vivid Sydney, allowing exhibitors and visitors alike to head to the illuminated harbourside once the trade floor closes.
