Clinical ocular data management company Pliny has announced a partnership with Optometrist Warehouse, part of the Chemist Warehouse group.
Pharmacy giant Chemist Warehouse launched two Optometrist Warehouse stores – one in Melbourne and the other in Sydney – in 2023. It also has an online store.
With optometry veterans Peter Larsen and Charles Horner at the helm, the new chain promises to disrupt the optical market.
Announcing the collaboration, Pliny said it had maintained a “strong and strategic partnership” with Mr Larsen.
“Over the past three years, Pliny’s collaboration with the ocular industry has solidified its position as a leading SaaS (software as a service) provider, showcasing its technical expertise, client-focussed development processes, and ability to drive innovation,” Pliny said in a statement.
This partnership will enable Optometrist Warehouse to centralise all clinical data from any device at every location into one cloud storage system, accessible by all stores in real time.

“We are incredibly excited to work with the Optometrist Warehouse group,” said James Manners, CEO and Founder of Pliny.
“This partnership is a testament to our team’s dedication and the trust that industry leaders place in our team and our expertise. We look forward to contributing to Optometrist Warehouse’s continued success.”
Pliny’s role will be a primary service provider, delivering expertise around security, IT infrastructure, and organisational collaboration requirements.
The new alliance is expected to drive significant growth and innovation for both organisations, the Pliny statement said.
