The Australian College of Optometry (ACO) has extended the application deadline for its Advanced Certificate in Children’s Vision.
Optometrists now have until 24 February to enrol in this popular six-month course, that provides the skills to confidently diagnose and manage paediatric conditions, including amblyopia, strabismus, myopia control, and paediatric ocular disease.
Designed with working professionals in mind, the course combines evidence-based learning with a clinical placement module, allowing participants to apply their skills under the guidance of an optometrist or ophthalmologist – an invaluable opportunity to build confidence in paediatric care.

Catherine Tay, Clinical Education Coordinator of the course said, “Keeping up with the latest research and techniques is becoming increasingly essential in modern practice, particularly when managing the diverse and complex needs of young patients.”
And, with myopia diagnosis and management a key element of the course she said it would help meet the increasingly “critical need for early diagnosis of myopia, appropriate intervention and effective education with families to safeguard children’s visual development and overall health”.
