The first daily disposable silicone hydrogel soft contact lenses specifically designed for slowing the progression of myopia in children*1 will soon launch in Australia.
Johnson and Johnson’s Acuvue Abiliti 1-Day soft therapeutic lenses for myopia management are a breakthrough innovation with proven efficacy.‡1 Abiliti 1-Day lenses have been shown to be around twice as effective at managing myopia compared to a dual focus lens.§˄2 Furthermore, they slow axial elongation by 0.25 mm, on average, over a two-year period.¥2
Designed for the paediatric eye, Abiliti 1-Day lenses break down many of the barriers that stand in the way of children receiving the full benefit of myopia control
This is due to novel RingBoost technology, that maximises treatment strength while focussing rays off the line of sight, allowing the lens to be built with stronger treatment power while maintaining vision quality. In fact, more than 95% of children wearing Acuvue Abiliti 1-Day achieved visual acuity of 6/6 or better.†3
Designed for the paediatric eye, Abiliti 1-Day lenses break down many of the barriers that stand in the way of children receiving the full benefit of myopia control. They have a smaller diameter for improved insertion and removal, and provide the comfort you expect from Acuvue Oasys 1-Day contact lenses.¶3 When compared to spectacles, wearing contact lenses boosted self confidence4,5 in kids, and improved school and sports performance.4,5

Abiliti 1-Day will be officially launched in Australia on 18 August 2025 at the Optometry Clinical Conference (OCC) in Melbourne.
Registration is now open for an introductory webinar for Abiliti 1-Day on 20 August. The webinar will feature globally renowned researchers and expert clinicians, Associate Professor Noel Brennan, Dr Xu Cheng, and Alex Petty.
Optometrists who would like to take the first step towards accessing Abiliti 1-Day can also complete the Acuvue Abiliti 1-Day Accreditation Programme (AU) on JNJVISIONPRO.

‡ Specifically targeted and designed for slowing the progression of myopia in children.
§ Based on axial elongation after six months of wear.
˄ Senofilcon A prototype dual focus lens.
¥ Compared to a single vision contact lens after two years of wear.
† Measured using LogMAR visual acuity where 0.00 LogMAR is equivalent to 20/20 vision.
¶ Acuvue Abiliti 1-Day soft therapeutic lenses for myopia management are manufactured using senofilcon A, the same material used to manufacture Acuvue Oasys 1-Day contact lenses.
