Ophthalmologists are invited to attend a free CPD webinar on ‘From consensus to clinic: Individualising laser and anti-VEGF decisions in proliferative diabetic retinopathy’ (PDR).
The webinar will be presented by Professor Adrian Fung and Dr Gaurav Bhardwaj at 7pm-8.30pm AEDT on 28 October 2026.
Drawing on recent consensus guidance and key clinical evidence, this interactive case-based webinar will explore how ophthalmologists can individualise treatment decisions across a range of challenging PDR presentations, translating the evidence into decisions encountered in everyday clinical practice.
Through multimodal imaging and interactive clinical cases, the speakers will examine the roles of panretinal photocoagulation, intravitreal anti-VEGF therapy, intravitreal steroids and vitrectomy surgery, supported by evidence including the Diabetic Retinopathy Study, Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Retina Network Protocol S, Protocol AB and CLARITY.
Drawing on recent consensus guidance and key clinical evidence, this interactive case-based webinar will explore how ophthalmologists can individualise treatment decisions
Cases will bring these considerations to life, exploring treatment decisions in patients with PDR with and without diabetic macular oedema, vitreous haemorrhage, tractional retinal detachment, neovascular glaucoma, epiretinal membrane and vitreomacular traction. The discussion will also consider important systemic and patient-related factors, including rapid glycaemic control with GLP-1 receptor agonists, treatment adherence, and the management of PDR during pregnancy.
CPD Accredited for Ophthalmology
‘From consensus to clinic: Individualising laser and anti-VEGF decisions in PDR’ has been approved by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) for CPD, with participants able to claim a total of 1.5 CPD hours, comprising one hour of educational activity and 30 minutes of reviewing performance. The activity also includes a CAPE Professionalism component.
