The Queensland Optometrists Association will host a two day course entitled ‘How to Build a Better Practise’ for optometrists assistants from 27 to 28 September.
The course is designed to equip optometric assistants with a better knowledge of the work that practises perform, and their role within it. Course coordinator, Professor Joanne Wood said, “By ensuring your staff is fully trained, you will ensure the best service for your patients. Your staff will respond positively to your commitment and loyalty to them, and this will help develop your practice into an efficient and cohesive optometry practice.”
The course is structured over two days with one day of theory based lectures on topics that include how the eye works, dealing with the public and basic optometric techniques. Workshops on the second day will cover issues ranging from dispensing and spectacle repairs, through to contact lens use and care, and visual field techniques.
Lectures and workshops will be delivered by professors, lecturers and clinical staff from the School of Optometry.
