Office lenses are typically optimised reading lenses that also offer clear vision in the middle distance. The useable distance can be controlled by the lens’ dynamic power. The more dynamic power the lens has, the more it can also be used for distance viewing – that means degressive (dynamic) powers from 0.5 to 2.75 provide distance viewing from 0.80m up to 4.00m.
While single-vision reading glasses only correct for a reading distance of 30–40cm, these intermediate distances are important for people using computers, doing homework or playing an instrument, for example.
JP Optical offers several progressive lenses designed specifically for computer and office use. These lenses offer enhanced intermediate and near viewing zones, at the expense of distance utility.
JP Optical lenses also come with 21 Ray – a unique, patented coating that reflects approximately 50% of near-infrared light, thereby reducing its absorption by the eyeball in the wave band of 780nm to 1400nm. 21 Ray also blocks harmful blue and UV light.
