OCT for Retina Cases: OVC Webinar

Optometrists are invited to attend a webinar on the use of optical coherence tomography (OCT) in retina cases, presented by Drs Christopher Go and Tiger Zhou from Vision Eye Institute.

Part of Optometry Australia’s Virtually Connected conference, ‘Comprehensive OCT insights and triage strategies for retinal cases: From diagnosis to management’ will cover common OCT findings in various retinal conditions and the appropriate referral/triage pathways, including referral urgency and therapeutic management, as well as an update on diabetic retinopathy. The session will conclude with a joint Q&A session, where attendees will have the opportunity to have their questions answered live.

The online session will be moderated by Stephanie Stavrinakis, Vision Eye Institute South Australia Clinical Relationships Manager and Optometrist.

About the Speakers

Dr Christopher Go is a Sydney-based fellowships-trained vitreoretinal surgeon with extensive experience in medical and surgical management of retinal and macular disorders. He has completed four clinical retinal fellowships in Liverpool UK, Hong Kong, Melbourne, and Taiwan.

Dr Go is an examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), Adjunct Associate Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, and Conjoint Clinical Lecturer at Sydney University. He practises with Vision Eye Institute.

Dr Tiger Zhou is an Australian-trained ophthalmologist with significant expertise in cataract surgery, pterygium surgery and intraocular injections. He also has a special interest in managing glaucoma, medical retinal diseases including diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, and general eye conditions.

Dr Zhou undertook specialist ophthalmology training with RANZCO and was awarded the Lions Medical Research Foundation Scholarship in Medicine, which focussed on genetic predisposition to glaucoma. He completed a PhD at Flinders University, examining the molecular genetics of glaucoma. This research has helped identify new genetic variants associated with primary open-angle glaucoma, providing valuable insights into the underlying mechanisms of the disease. He practises at Vision Eye Institute.
